Sacrifice of the Sorcerer (The Hexecutioner #2) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Supernatural Sacrificial" Stars

The second book in the The Hexecutioner series was an awesome and fun thriller!

A small taste of what is within:

Jaxon has to put the brakes on an evil cult leader that thinks if he sacrifices victims then he will be able to harness powers that will make him almost like a god. Jaxon though has other ideas as he steps into the middle of the cult leaders plans throwing everything into disarray

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my full course meal over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The second book has quite a bit of suspense and tension laced with some action and intrigue. Writing style flows as smooth as ever as I settled down to read the story and once again I was transported into the world of The Hexecutioner. Everything seems to disappear around me as I am pulled into this unique world created by author, William Massa. Will be heading into the next book in the series with anticipation! :)

Game of the Wolf (The Hexecutioner #1) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Werewolf Action" Stars

This first book in the series of The Hexecutioner was a fun action packed read!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jaxon Weylock hunts down villains from the supernatural realm that are out to harm/kill people to suit their own needs. But Jaxon is no ordinary guy as he has something that resides within him to make sure the villains are dealt with once and for all. Within this story a werewolf goes on a murdering spree and Jaxon has to do whatever is necessary to hunt it down.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read the full course meal review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I was very excited to step into this series as I have read a couple of other series by this author and just absolutely love the writing style. I was quickly drawn into this story and read it within one sitting. The action is fast paced with tension and excitement as I made my way through the story. Will be continuing on with the series as I want to see more of what kind of villains that Jaxon has to pursue!

Camp Slaughter by Sergio Gomez

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Splatter" Stars

This was a great tension story and it was my first time reading this author too.

A small taste of what lies within:

There is a campground out in the woods that might or might not exist and it is rumored that something bad happened there. A few friends decide to check it out to see if the rumors are true, but what they don't know is that something stalks those woods and it has a taste for human flesh.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to see my full course meal over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This story starts off with an intensity but then slows down between 20% to 60% with just backstory on the friends and the rumored campground - there is nothing happening as far as gory action until about 65% into the story then the book goes into overdrive and it keeps up the momentum till the last page of the book. Also it doesn't end the way I was expecting and it seems that at some point in time there might be a sequel from what the author says at the end of the book. There are some unanswered questions and hopefully the author will revisit this world to wrap up loose ends. All in all though the story was intense and there were quite a few tense moments when the action picked up.

The Dragon's Den (The Metaframe War #3) by Graeme Rodaughan

 πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Five "Cinema Action" Stars

The third book in the Metaframe War series starts off with the action, suspense and intrigue. Once the book starts rolling and more things start happening the book literally takes off like a rocket!

A small taste of what is within:

The vampire war has kicked into high gear between the Vampire Dominion, the Red Empire and the Order of Thoth. The Mirovar Force team is right back in the thick of it trying to chase down the vampires while in the meantime Shadowstone troops have also entered the fray. The fight goes into full blown "ramp" mode as everyone moves into position with the continuation of this war.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads to get the full course meal of what is in store within this book.

Thoughts:

The writing style of author, Graeme Rodaughan wrapped itself around me as I delved into the storyline. This third book transported me into the action zone and kept me there for the duration of the story. No coming up for air and barely time to breath as the action abounds within these pages. This book will rock your socks off as the action goes into overdrive! As I read the book I was surrounded by lots of action, tons of emotion and suspense, riveted to my seat with tension and intensity as I moved along in the story!

The House Next Door by Anne River Siddons

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Four "Ghostly" Stars

This book had been coming through my Goodreads feed quite a bit for about three or so years and I finally buckled down to read it in 2019.

A small taste of what is within:

Something is badly wrong with a house next door to Walter and Colquitt Kennedy as each time someone moves in and out of the house there are ghostly incidents that take place with every family that lives in the house. Something evil has invaded the house and no one seems to know why.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This was a creepy book but not overly scary as it just was more mysterious with lots of ghostly atmosphere wrapped within the story.  The writing was excellent and it just drew me in right away to the storyline.

Halloween Land by Kevin J. Kennedy

🎑🎑🎑🎑🎑

Five "Ferris Wheel" Stars

This was a cool horror story that grabbed me right away and carted me off into the mind of author, Kevin J. Kennedy!

A small taste of what is inside:

Zak and Wendy go to a carnival that is down by the pier and they decide to check out the funhouse, but when they go through it and come out the other side they step into an alternate reality of the carnival where some creepy clowns among other things come after them. Survival is the only key to get back to their own reality.

That is about all I can give in a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This story just grabbed me and I literally read a little over half the book in one sitting as I just could not put it down. Once the characters, Zak and Wendy are transported into the alternate reality the pace picked up and there was quite a bit of action throughout the storyline. Intense situations and page turning at the speed of light as I wanted to see what was going to happen next!

An Extreme Turkey Dinner by Sea Caummisar

πŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒ

Four "Turkey Blood Dripping" Stars

This was an interesting and creative horror romp through the mind of author, Sea Caummisar!

A small taste of what is inside:

Angie has slipped over the edge as she wants to exact revenge on her relatives that didn't help her take care of her mother who had dementia. Let the torture begin.....

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book was a short read but it was nail biting tension as I made my way through the storyline. The character Angie went completely "round the bend" and ended up torturing her relatives in very unique ways which made this one blood infested story.

The Sensitives Books 1 - 3: A Paranormal Horror Series by Rick Wood

πŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘Ώ

Five "Demon-Spooky" Stars

This omnibus was a creepy and tension filled book that kept me riveted to my chair!

A taste of what lies within:

Julian and April team up with a man named Oscar and end up recruiting him to help them with demonic activity. Julian and April are paranormal investigators that are called "Sensitives" and they help people with demonic possessions. Oscar has a unique ability as he can see demons that are associated with people, but he has to learn to control what he sees or the demons will consume his soul.

All three of them go through demonic possession cases as they try to exorcise the demons, but each one of them goes through something each time they do it leaving scars on their souls. When they come up against certain type of demons is when things go from bad to worse as they try to fight the forces of evil from the depths of hell!

Thoughts:

This omnibus was fast paced with lots of tension and intensity as I made my way through the storyline - the first book started out a smidge slow but eventually picked up pace about 25% into the book till about 50% onward I was staying up late into the night to see what would happen next. The second book in the omnibus was basically a constant mass of activity as the storyline intensified and then rounding out the third book it was just a constant upheaval of page turning and nail-biting moments as I made my way through the book!

The last two books I would stay up till near four in the morning as this omnibus was big - topping out at 700 pages, but I just stayed with it as I wanted to see how everything was going to play out. Though there are five more books to go in this series as the third book sort of ends on a cliff hanger, but I need to take a breather from it so going to continue on with the series sometime next month. All in all it was a "Devil of a Ride"

The Ghosts of Hexley Airport by Amy Cross

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Boo-Spooky" Stars

This was one creepy story that grabbed me right away!

A small taste of what lies within:

Hexley Airport was the site of a airplane disaster that claimed the lives of 200+ people and  now it seems that the airport has quite a bit of ghostly activity. The main characters, Casey and Tom are on the security detail which when things go awry they have to go investigate, which with ghosts anything is unpredictable.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The ghost stories of Amy Cross have never disappointed me as I have read a few and they all seem to have some sort of spooky atmosphere that is wrapped within each storyline. This is one of those stories and when the haunting escalated I had a hard time putting down the book which one night I stayed up till three in the morning as I just could not put it down!

Now there were some unanswered questions with the story but sometimes with horror novels the stories are always going to leave you wondering about something, but I really loved the feel of the haunting and the writing style of Amy Cross just carried me away into the flow of the haunting aspects of her mind.

Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Four "Ghostly" Stars

This was a new author to me when I read this book back in 2019 on a buddy read with one of my buddies.

A small taste of what is within:

A rock band moves into a manor that is haunted and each member tells their story of the activity they witnessed there.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The writing style of the author slowly drew me in the book, but the story didn't really take off till about half through the storyline. There are multiple points of view within this story which was confusing, but all in all the spookiness of the story kept my attention.

The Wishing Box by Blake Croft and Ashley Raven

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Twisted" Stars

This was a new author to me as I delved into this short twisted story!

A small taste of what lies within:

A wishing box is given to Diana in exchange for her helping an old gypsy woman, but what Diana doesn't know is that sometimes wishes do not come true and if they do it is not what you would expect.

Thoughts:

This was a cool twisted story that captured my attention for a short read last year. I had come across this book when I was looking for something else and the blurb just jumped out as an attention getter so I grabbed the book to see what kind of wishes I could twist out of reading it! Since the reading of this book, I have laid my hands on a couple of other books by author, Blake Croft.

The Child Eater by Brian G. Berry

 πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Four "Twisted" Stars

This was my first book by this author and I was quite impressed about how quickly I became involved in the story! I was just planning on reading for a little bit, but then the next thing I knew I was almost half way into the book in no time.

A small taste of what lies within:

Albert Walker has a deep dark secret that he ends up showing to a psychologist, but it doesn't end well and when the hunger arises, Albert needs to feed.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Extreme blood splatter ride in this book as things start to get twisted quick and then it continues on throughout the book. I was swiping through my kindle as fast as I could as I kept wanting to see what would happen next! This book is part of a series, so I have the next one waiting on my kindle to read which I will do that soon.

Irish Gothic: Tales of Celtic Horror by Ronald Kelly

☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

Five "Irish Horror" Stars

Another excellent book from author, Ronald Kelly!

A small taste of what is within:

Seven stories of Irish folklore wrapped in a horror theme throughout the book.

Flangan's Bride
The Wee Village
Diabhal's Timepiece
O'Sheehan!
Postcard from Kilkenny
A Fine Wake for Nana Ferree
The Spawn of Arget Bethir
Irish Celtic Creatures & Cryptoids

Thoughts:

All the stories just grab a hold of you and whisk you away into the lush countryside of Ireland along with the Celtic culture. The author's writing style is as smooth as ever and just carries you away from one country to another. I have to say that I loved all the stories as each one is tinged with horror, but the Irish theme emanates from each story as you feel that you are enfolded into each and every one. Another "Kelly" book added to my favorites shelf!

The Haunting of Bloodmoon House by Jeff DeGordick

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Four "Spooky" Stars

What a ghostly ride this book turned out to be as I stepped back into the world of author, Jeff DeGordick!

A small taste of what lies within:

The Bloodmoon House is abandoned for a reason and Jess remembers terrible things that happened there when she was young that involved her uncle, but when a blood moon is getting ready to appear once again her friends talk her into going back to the house to face her fears, but as you well know visiting a supposedly haunted house nothing goes as planned!

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Author, Jeff DeGordick, has always been able to capture my attention with his stories as I have read a few of his books and own a few more that I need to read. The writing style of his books just carts me away into the haunted realm of his mind. Some of his books have spooked me right out of my skin so that is saying something! It takes a lot to spook my skin off (lol), but he has a demonic book series that I need to get back into that will probably make me leave the lights on.

This book I didn't need to leave the lights on, but it still had quite a few spooky moments and "heebie jeebie" vibes throughout the storyline. Also there was a twist near the end of the book that I never expected which kept me glued to my kindle.

Winthrop House (Winthrop House #2) by Ambrose Ibsen

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Creep-Out" Stars

This is the second book in the "Winthrop House" series, but the only difference is the main characters are totally different with the house staying the same.

A small taste of what lies within:

Three friends are on a road trip and they decide to stay at the Winthrop House, but they have no clue about the house or what has happened in the past with the history of the place. They are in for a big surprise as what lies within "wakes up" as new victims enter its domain.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The authors stories just grab me as they all have spooky elements to them that keep me entertained and entrapped in the stories. This was my third book by him when I read it back in 2017 and I actually read quite a few of his books that year as I just wanted to keep reading whatever he had out there. This book was spooky and kept me within the story as I kept wanting to see what would happen next with the characters as they had to endure the entity in the house.

Snowbeast by Peter Tremayne

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Thriller" Stars

Mythical creature feature that is only whispered as a legend is the basis of this story!

A small taste of what is within:

A creature stalks the Scottish highlands ripping apart anything that stands in its way and a monk lays in a fever in a monastery whispering in a language that he shouldn't even know - there is some kind of connection though to the creature.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The story was more mysterious if anything and there wasn't lots of blood and gore that would normally be associated with this type of story, but the mystery lies within the monastery and the interesting connection to the creature. The story was still fast paced and it kept my attention as I wanted to see how the mystery was going to be solved between the connection of the creature and the monk. There are other supporting characters as well that kept my attention span riveted to the story.

The Skittering by David Haynes

πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›

Five "Pest Infested" Stars

Wow! Hungry Bugs!

A small taste of what lies within:

Bugs have come calling in the small town of Weaver and there are millions of them that range from spiders, cockroaches, wasps, etc. and as they invade the town but that is not the only problem as these bugs are hungry and they will eat whatever stands in their way!

Pest control man Ronald Crease is the man for the job of taking care of whatever bugs and pests that the townspeople need taken care of, but when he gets a phone call from Nancy Tucker to take care of a bee nest that has formed on the side of her house, Crease just thinks that it will be something easy, but when he gets there and sees the size of the nest it is beyond his imagination though he tries to kill the bees the best he can which in turn makes them angry, Crease finds out he will need something a little more potent to take them out which turns his job into more of a challenge than expected!

Why are the bugs invading the town? What drives their hunger? Is the town able to survive the bugs? No spoilers here as you will just have to read the book!

Thoughts:

This was one creepy bug story that had me cringing on some of what was happening within the story as the author goes all out with the bugs taking over and eating their way through the town to the point that most of the book was one blood and gore infested romp of horror!

I am never disappointed with stories from this author as he is always able to grab my attention from the first page of a book and keep me entranced to the end. This story was seeped in so much blood and gore with the bugs that it turned this book into one creepy crawling icky mess! It is a wonder I didn't have bugs seeping out of my kindle as I was reading it!

This was a twisted and fast paced story that kept me glued to my kindle the more I delved into the story. Gore suit was needed for this one - I was happy to have it ready to go!

Highly Recommend!
