The House of a Hundred Whispers by Graham Masterton

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Haunted Horror" Stars

Spooky Occult Vibes!

A small taste of what lies within:

Robert Russell along with his wife, Vicky and their son Timmy inherit a mansion named All Hallow's Hall as Robert's father passed away. Robert's brother Martin and his wife all decide to meet at the estate to find out what gets divided and what they are going to do. But things go to hell in a handbasket quick when Timmy disappears and no one can find him. While they are searching for Timmy other things start happening within the mansion as they all start hearing loud whispering that seems to emanates from one room in the home.

When they go to investigate a malevolent force lets itself be known that it does not want them there and it will do whatever it takes to keep them out of that room. One thing leads to another when they decide to call in a priest as then whatever force is in the mansion goes into a rage and the Russell family is standing in its path!

That is about all I can give on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

Once again I was transported in Masterton's world and this story just kept gaining speed as once the character Timmy disappears the story seemed to get faster. Lots happening within this story as there is a haunting along with demonic activity which sent this book into high gear. It took some time though to get into the story but once things started happening within the mansion, the creepiness and suspense dug down into my psyche.

I read the last half of the book in a couple of days as I could not put it down! This should really be a five star read but when Timmy disappears I felt there was too much of the story spent looking for him as that takes up a good 30% to 40% of the book but once other things start happening then the focus of the story shifts to other characters in the book and the story starts heating up.

The whispering, the haunting, and the demonic activity takes center stage eventually and this is what truly drove the story at high speed to the end of the book! All that is what kept my insomnia fueled and then the puzzle pieces falling into place when more is revealed of why the mansion is haunted. Another great book by this author and looking forward to reading more of his books as I own quite a few I have not read yet.

The Devil's Fingers by Hunter Shea

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Fungus Mutation" Stars

Camping Horrors!

A small taste of what lies within:

Autumn Winters along with some friends are out camping in the woods when they come across a fungus on the ground that seems to be covering a small field. Lucky for Autumn she knows what it is as she is a botanist but she is curious to know why the fungus which is known as the Devil's Fingers is growing in such an odd place.

When two of her friends (Dan and Carrie) sleep out under the stars they accidentally lay down in an area where the fungus is growing and by morning they are literally covered in the fungus spores which seem to have attached themselves to their bodies.

Autumn and the rest of her friends are horrified as they try to figure out what to do and how to get help as the fungus seems to be taking over her friends and any kind of help is far away from where they are located!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was a fast paced creepy horror adventure that I just could hardly lay down! Author, Hunter Shea once again proves why he is the master of creature feature horror as he wraps the reader up with this book that is drowning in creepy mutated fungus!

This is a short read though so it didn't take me long to fly through it but I was on the edge of my seat with this book as lots happens quickly and Shea puts the pedal to the metal with this story as the more that things happened the more I kept reading.

I liked all the characters in this story as well and felt bad for some of them when things began happening to them. There is some bleakness within this story but the fast paced action kept me turning my kindle pages at super sonic speed!

Demon's Wrath: Death in Caguas: A Michael Moretti Novel by Patrick James Ryan

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Demon Action" Stars

Occult Dark Adventure!

A taste of what lies within:

A rising up of demonic activity has taken over a small town in Puerto Rico with people being possessed and murdered. The Vatican have been informed about what is happening and they are wanting to put a stop to it. The best way to do that is bring in two specialists that deal in demons and they hope that these men can bring it all to a halting stop without anyone else getting murdered.

In steps Michael Moretti (specialist/priest) and Robert Giametti (demonologist) - these two men will set out on a dangerous adventure that could very well costs them their souls, but they will need to see it through before the town in Puerto Rico becomes a wasteland of dead bodies and before the demons can take full control of not only the town but the country!

That is all I can hand out on a taste without giving away spoilers, so if you want to know more you will need to read the book!

Thoughts:

This story just captured me right away and kept my insomnia fueled with tons of demon blood and gore action! The action scenes were flawless and just kept me glued to my seat! I loved the characters in this story too as I became attached to the priest, Michael Moretti and his partner, Roberto Giametti a demonologist.

This book was insomnia fuel as the action became so intense that sleep was an issue while reading it as I didn't want to go to sleep till I saw what would happen next!  Also it is a good thing I had my gore suit handy as it was needed for this book! There was so much blood and splatter that I thought I had fallen into a demon blood pit! Another great book by this author and looking forward to reading more books in this series when they become available.

A Room for the Dead by Noel Hynd

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Supernatural Shivers" Stars

Creepy Under Your Skin Vibes!

A small taste of what lies within:

Frank O'Hara who is a detective sergeant that had a hand in sending an evil killer, Gary Ledbetter to the electric chair years ago is shaken to his core as bodies are now turning up that is parallel to Ledbetter's MO and Frank doesn't know if there is a copycat killer running loose or if maybe Ledbetter is killing from beyond the grave!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if that sounds intriguing then go read this book!

Thoughts:

It has been a long time since I read a book by Noel Hynd but I have owned this kindle book for a long time and thought I would step into it. I am so glad that I did as the crime thriller aspects of the story mixed within a haunting was right up my alley.

The book was a little slow to get going but by the time I hit the 20% mark it picked up gradually and then really took off around the 30% mark. Lots of spooky shiver vibes within this story as it unfolded with the mystery of whether the character Ledbetter was the cause of the recent killings even though he was dead.

The author slowly built up the dread and fear of the haunting along with the mystery of the crimes that was taking place. After reading this book I am planning on pursuing more books by Hynd. The last book I read by him was his book, Ghosts which I read a long time ago - sometime back in the 90's - not too long after it was published. So it is time to check to see what else he has out there to add to my tbr.

The World You Loved (Slattery Falls #3) by Brennan LaFaro

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Spine Chiller Suspense" Stars

Spooky Tension!

A small taste of what lies within:

Travis and Elsie Morland are back in this final installment of the Slattery Falls trilogy and they both did find their daughter, April in the last book of Decimated Dreams but the world they were in kept them trapped in time while April was being taken care of by their detective and police friend Robin in the outside world.

Two worlds collide within this story as Travis and Elsie were trying to find the villain, Robert Weeks but when he tampered with a time rift things become screw whacked for the Morlands along with their daughter April. Weeks still needs to be stopped though and the Morlands will do whatever it takes to bring justice to his door!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book and this trilogy!

Thoughts:

This book took an interesting turn as I felt that it went down the path of fantasy throughout some of the story which was really cool as I love reading fantasy stories just as much as I do horror so when the story took that turn I just fell right into it!

Loved the characters throughout this story and I am sorry to see this book come to an end. Lots of emotions wrapped up within this last book as well which kept me breath-hitching through most of the story.

Even though this trilogy is complete I am looking forward to reading more books by author, Brennan LaFaro and I can actually say that I own a couple or so more that I need to read yet.

Sarah is also being held by the demonic presence that had invaded Perron Manor as it is still very much around and it wants her soul. Though there is a bright light that appears periodically to help her through the evil and Sarah latches onto that bright beacon of light as she believes it to be her sister, Chloe trying to help her.

David and Rachel will need to battle all evil forces which they do have to endure as they make their way toward rescuing Sarah! It will be a battle of wills and hellfire but they are relentlessly not going to let anything stop them from finding Sarah and rescuing her from evil!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if you want to know more then start your reading journey of this haunted series!

Thoughts:

This series of books just keeps getting better and better as the evil stalks the pages of this story it also stalks the reader mind as well as I would find myself just wrapped up within it clutches as I would spend sleep time reading this story as it kept me awake with insomnia fuel!

The spookiness of the story just creeped under my skin and I had a hard time putting this book down as the fast pace of things happening to the characters in this book was constant. The story moves along quickly and kept me glued to my kindle as I just could not even think about sleep as the story went into a high gear!

Looking forward to the rest of the books in the series to see how everything unfolds within the story.

We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix

🎸🎸🎸🎸

Four "Heavy Metal Horror" Guitars!

Rock-n-Roll Banger!

A very small taste of what lies within:

Kris Pulaski used to be a lead guitarist in the heavy metal band, Durt Wurk but times have become hard and now she works in a hotel as a manager. Kris finds out something so shocking from her past that involves the lead singer Terry from Durt Wurk for his rise to fame that she sets out on a quest to hunt him down to find out why he made a pact with the devil!

That is about I can give on a taste without giving away spoilers, so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This book was soaked in heavy metal which was about the coolest book I have ever read in fiction! The author went deep into the metal scene and even had the chapters named as album titles. I loved seeing some very recognizable band names within this book and it was almost like a salute to them which was very cool reading.

I loved the character, Kris as she was a no-nonsense person that was not going to take crap from anyone and she just goes into a "take charge" mode as she goes after the band leader.

I haven't read much by this author except for his book Paperbacks from Hell which is another awesome book, but I am going to start reading more of his work as he has quite a few books out there that look spectacular.
