Rusty Nail (Jack Daniels Mystery #3) by J.A. Konrath

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Crazy Killers" Stars

Third book was filled with so much suspense that I could have probably ate it with a spoon!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jack has to use all of her skills in this book as she has a family of killers that is tied to an old case and she has to keep her wits on full throttle because if she doesn't then she might end up dead herself. Though she is in pursuit of them things do not go as planned and she finds herself being pursued instead which ratchets up the danger level to red!

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book was loaded with twisted tension as it went from one extreme to another from chapter to chapter. Though there are moments of funny one-liners that the character Jack throws out in the story which gives this series of books a fun read. Will be continuing on with the series as it seems these books are getting better and better.

Sharkwater Beach by Tim Meyer

🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈

Five "Scary Shark" Stars

Another great book by author, Tim Meyer!

A small taste of what is within:

Sharkwater Beach has been invaded by a shark the likes that has never been seen before and it is tearing up not only the Gulf waters but also anyone that is out in the area of the beach. Professor Pickard calls Detective Jill McCourty to come help him with keeping the area contained as he figures that Jill being a detective she will be able to somehow help him with the problem. Jill finds out though that she might be up to her neck in floating bodies before all is said and done.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This was a fast paced shark action story that grabbed me from the get-go and took me on a twisty turn all the way through the book! There are tons of incidents with shark vs. humans that lay within the pages of this book. Plus there was an interesting twist near the end of the book that shocked me to the point I stayed up in the middle of the night flipping through the pages to see what was going to happen next!

Thoughts:

This was a new author to me and I was impressed with all the stories as each one had some sort of revenge situation with women as the leading roles in each story. Also the stories are of extreme nature so not for the faint of heart which I have been known to step into extreme horror some of the time. Another horror author added to my ever growing list of discovered authors. Planning on reading more books by this author in the future.

Devil's Island by Mark Lukens

 πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Macabre Manor" Stars

Wow! I was impressed with this haunted story and it was my first time reading this author as well!

A small taste of what lies within:

A Hollywood producer gathers a team of ghost hunters together and takes them to Devil's Island where they will be locked down for 48 hours inside of a haunted manor that has been known to strike fear in people to the point that no one wants to stay at the manor.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This story drew me right in as I figured I would just read a couple or so chapters before going to bed one night, but instead I read more than a couple as the writing style of this author was smooth and entrapped me into his world right away. There was a slow buildup of the story at first as the author brought all the characters together, but once they arrived at the island and started investigating the manor is when the book picked up speed!

The more things that happened within the story, the faster I read the book! The last 40% of the book I read within 24 hours as things were happening fast from chapter to chapter that I had a hard time putting the book down. Will be pursuing more books by this author as I have added another author to my "horror" list.

Bloody Mary (Jack Daniels Mystery #2) by J.A. Konrath

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Murdering Maniac" Stars

Another great installment to the "Jack Daniels" series!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jack and Herb are back trying to track down a serial killer that has totally flipped his lid as he goes on a major murdering spree as the killer dismembers the victims. Jack and Herb have their hands full, but when the case takes a twist they find out that the killer could be someone they know which sends them moving at a faster pace to solve the crimes!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This story kept me on my toes as the fast paced action barely let up throughout the whole book. I stayed up half the night reading the book as from chapter to chapter I just could not break away from the story. There were tons of twists throughout this one as the intensity of the read just kept me entwined within the story.

Another great book by author, Lee Mountford!

A small taste of what is within:

This book is a collection of short stories which are chock full of haunting themes and demonic spooks!

The short stories are:

The Hobbes Hall Diaries
The Late Shift
The Box
The Demon on the Farm
The Brass Farm Murders
Always and Forever

Let Me Through
The Black Forest

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I have a little more detail over on my Goodreads review of the stories contained within, but all of them were filled with spooks and creepy atmosphere as this author always knows how to weave the ghost stories and wraps you into the webbed cocoon of his mind! If you have not stepped into the mind of this author, then now would be a good time! :)

Whiskey Sour (Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels #1) by J.A. Konrath

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Serial Killer Thriller" Stars

Wow! This was an awesome start to this series of books!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels, a lieutenant for the Chicago PD is on the hunt for a serial killer that has dubbed himself the Gingerbread Man and bodies of women are piling up in Jack's district. Jack along with her partner, Herb are on a race against time as they try to track down the killer before he kills again, but things go awry for Jack as the killer turns his stalking skills in her direction.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Suspense and tension are the name of the game in this book as the author just weaved the story around me as I became ensnared in this storyline. I really loved the characters, Jack and Herb as they just seem to be perfect as crime fighting police officers. They both want to get the job done and get their man!

I was pulled straight into the story and there were traces of humor throughout the book as well with as Jack comes off the wall with some funny stuff that makes her character more likeable. I have more books in this series so planning on continuing on to see what Jack and Herb have around the corner next!

Phantom (The Hexecutioner #8) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Witch Doctor Diabolical" Stars

Jaxon serves justice on a witch doctor in this installment!

A small taste of what lies within:

A witch doctor has set his sights on albinos and is killing them off. A man that calls himself the Phantom wants to end the killings of these people and goes after the witch doctor. Jaxon's visions kick in and he sees what is happening with the Phantom and the witch doctor so he sets off on the hunt again to take care of the problem "Weylock" style!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The pace is fast and furious once again with this story as well as the action being crisp as ever, but I felt that there should have been more to the story of the Phantom and the witch doctor as this book was a very short read. It felt like a small appetizer and I was wanting a full course meal with dessert and a splash of wine! πŸ˜€

Still a great story though and loving all the cool features that Weylock is able to perform within this world that the author has created.

The Devil's Equinox by John Everson

πŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘Ώ

Four "Devilish" Stars

This was a creepy devil ride into the unknown!

A small taste of what lies within:

Austin wishes his wife Angie were dead and lets that idea be known to a woman that he meets in a bar one night. The woman ends up becoming his next door neighbor and when his wife does end up dead, Austin is scrambling trying to figure out what happened.

The woman "Regina" sweeps in and takes over Austin's life along with his baby daughter, but all is not what it seems as Regina has plans for the both of them which brings Austin into a world of devil worship where there might be no escape!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book took me on a deep and dark ride into the underworld of devils and witches. There is quite a bit of erotic horror within these pages along with back stabbing deception with the character, Regina as she spins her web of betrayal bringing the character, Austin into a world that he has never known.

The story moves fast and the story flows along at a quick pace which kept me entertained and interested the more I moved deeper into the story as I kept wanting to see what was going to happen with Austin as I didn't know if he would be able to get out of his predicament along with escaping with his life intact.

The situations in this book are tense and suspenseful as the author, John Everson weaves his own web of story telling that brings the world of witchcraft and devils into the light while reading about the dark world of the occult
