The Crane War (The Metaframe War #5) by Graeme Rodaughan

 πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Five "Action Packed" Stars

The fifth book in the vampire series of The Metaframe War was a rocking kick ass book! This is my third time reading it as I read it with a buddy over on Goodreads.

A small taste of what lies within without giving away spoilers:

There is war raging between vampires and vampire hunters. The vampires are wanting to annihilate the vampire hunters. The vampire hunters are trying to kill all the vampires and will do whatever it takes to wipe them off the face of the earth. Both sides are wanting access to the Metaframe. As the war "ramps" up it is anybody's guess who will come out on top!

I cannot give much more than that as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Now you are wondering no doubt "what is the Metaframe" and all I can say is you will have to read this series from the beginning to fully understand what the Metaframe is along with what happens within this series as there is tons of information, intricate details of the storyline, awesome world building, attachable characters along with intrigue, suspense, weapons, and action galore!  The books must be read in order to fully understand this whole series as each book follows on the heels of the previous book.

This book The Crane War is loaded with action and lots of intrigue with suspenseful nail-biting along with sipping on soda and munching on snacks. I normally need to eat and drink while reading this series as there is so much action that I feel I am sitting in a movie theatre!

Savage Jungle: Lair of the Orange Pendek by Hunter Shea

🐡🐡🐡🐡

Four "Jungle Ape" Stars

Author, Hunter Shea never ceases to amaze me on his "creature feature" stories and when I read this book with a couple of buddies over on Goodreads back in 2018 it was truly a fun story to delve into as I never know what to expect.

A small taste of what is inside:

Two siblings (Natalie and Austin) take an adventure into the deep jungles of Sumatra to discover an ancient city that is surrounded by rumors of maybe having existed at one time. The journey or quest is loaded with dangers as they make their way through the jungle and it is loaded with "interesting" creatures that can only be created from the mind of author, Hunter Shea.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read the rest of my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I am never bored when reading a book by this author as I am mostly in a suspense state the whole time I read anything by him. This book was one of those books as it kept me in a heightened sense of awareness of what would be coming my way as I moved along into the story. As always there are creatures roaming through this book that will keep you glued to your seat as you never know what will happen next. I also love these two characters (Natalie and Austin) as I read another book where they were the featured characters and I love them so much that I would really love to see more books that feature them.

Night Society by Ambrose Ibsen

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Heebie Jeebie" Stars

Spooky setting as this book by author, Ambrose Ibsen just grabbed me right from the get-go when I read it back in late 2017 as this author has a way of pulling you into the haunting areas of his mind.

A small taste of what lies within:

Three friends decide that it would be fun to bring in a audio of a woman being murdered into a house that is supposedly haunted. What they get is more than they bargained for as the house comes alive when the audio is played.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you can read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Author, Ambrose Ibsen has a way of writing haunting stories as I have read quite a few books by him and all of his stories will send shivers down your spine with icicles skittering across your skin. The haunting stories by him will stay with you long after you put his books down. So if you are in the mood for "spooks" and "ghost" stories then check out this author as he will definitely put you in a "spooky" mood. This book was by far one his scariest I have read.

Hillary: Retribution (Hillary #3) by Angel Gelique

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Twisted" Stars

Wow! What a wrap-up to this trilogy! I started reading the books back in 2017 and just now finished wrapping it all up!

A small taste of what lies within:

Hillary is back and out for revenge against her tormentors, but not everything goes as planned as she ends up meeting a kindly old woman that tries to show Hillary the error of her ways.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads for more of an insight to the story.

Thoughts:

This book was nothing like the previous two books, but it still kept me glued to my seat as the storyline branches off into an unexpected direction. The story is more toned down and doesn't have the blood and gore as the other two books, but there is a little more intrigue and mystery that surrounds the character Hillary.

As always the writing style of author, Angel Gelique pulled me right into the story as I sat down to read it and kept me glued to my kindle as I continued to make my way through the storyline. What I didn't expect was a monkey wrench to be thrown into the cogs near the end of the book as the author decided that she needed to throw a "twist" into the storyline to keep the hearts of her readers to beat faster and to make us turn the pages at lightning speed! Trust me when I say the "unexpected revelation" kept me awake to the early hours of the morning as I just could not put the book down! It was a satisfying twisted end!

Doomsday Disciples (Occult Assassin #5) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Diabolical Doomed" Stars

Another "Wow" as I finished up this series! As always there is tons of action along with the occult themes that just seep into your being as you delve into the heart of this series.

A small taste of what is inside:

Another villain trying to gather occult forces to rise up against everything good along with trying to harness nature to do their evil bidding and the hero, Mark Talon has to once again try to stop the cult from taking over the world.

That is all I can give on a small taste as you can read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This whole series just rocked my socks off and believe me that is quite a feat to do that! I have put this whole series on my favorites shelf and at some point in the future will do rereads of the series as that is how much I loved all the books. Hopefully at some point in the future I wouldn't mind seeing more of Mark Talon with new villains to pursue. With this series all I can say is "What a Ride"!

The Haunting of Blackwood House by Darcy Coates

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Spooky" Stars

I have always loved haunted house books and this was my first book that I read by author, Darcy Coates which was back in late 2016. I was impressed by how quick I was pulled into the story and the writing style was flawless as I was swept away into the mind of this author!

A small taste of what lies within:

Mara and her boyfriend, Neil buy an abandoned house that no one seems to want to live in and as they start to settle in they learn real quick why no one wanted to live there as the house wakes up and lets them know that they have entered its domain.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This author just has a knack of pulling readers into her world and once you step inside her stories there truly is no escape. Lots of page turning and breathless fear as you make your way through the book. The haunting might be within the story but you will feel it too as you make your way through this book.

Gristle and Bone by Duncan Ralston

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Gory" Stars

As always with a "Ralston" book you will want to make sure your gore suit is always ready to go and in your hand along with any other accessories you will need to keep you from getting covered in splattered parts of........things! lol   What? Do you think I am kidding? Just enter his mind to know of what I speak!

I don't really have a small taste with this one as there are seven stories within to "wet your appetite" which are as follows:

Baby Teeth

Beware of Dog

Viral

Artifact (#37)

//End User

Fat of the Land

Scavengers

All stories have parts of what the title of the book says as when you want lots of "gristle and bone" look no further than author, Duncan Ralston, as I am sure you will find way more than you bargained for with his books. Oh and you might be picking "gristle and bone" out of your teeth - don't say I didn't warn you. :)

The Folcroft Ghosts by Darcy Coates

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Spooky" Stars

Nothing ever ceases to amaze me when reading books by author, Darcy Coates, as she is able to weave "ghostly magic" within her stories keeping the reader entranced for the duration of the book! I read this book back in 2017 and I have it on my favorites shelf.

A small taste of what is inside:

A mother lands in the hospital and as she recuperates there, her son and daughter go to stay with their grandparents. Everything seems to be fine.....until it isn't. Things start happening while they stay there which makes the two teens wonder exactly what is wrong with the....house.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I have read quite a few books by this author and her tales are always atmospheric with just the right touch of fear coursing through your veins as you delve deep into her books. The stories come alive as you read them and they will bring you totally into her ghostly mind! Dare you enter the haunted houses that this author creates! Enter if you dare!

Expulsion by Angel Gelique

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Gory" Stars

When I read this book back in the Summer of 2018 I had already stepped into the mind of this author and wow is it scary in there! Author, Angel Gelique gives a whole new meaning to the words "extreme horror" as there is lots of sloshing through red blood pools as you make your way through the recesses of her mind!

A small taste of what is within:

A couple have a baby that turns out to be anything but "angelic" and when they find out what the child can do is when the fear really sets in!

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will just need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Nothing surprises me with this author as she always has the tendency to pull out all the stops and always seems to grab the reader quickly before anyone has a chance to take a breath!

I have been reading her work for awhile now and at some point planning on doing some rereads of her books to recapture that hardcore essence that I have come to love with her extreme worlds that she creates.

Darkness Rising by Brian Moreland

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Sweet Revenge" Stars

This was a great story and it just grabbed me right away when I read this book back in 2017!

A small taste of what lies within:

Marty Weaver is bullied and abused, but he also has a secret - one that will turn things around in a heartbeat leading to the destruction of those that have treated him wrong.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you can read the rest of my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The author, Brian Moreland has a great writing style that draws you in to the stories very quickly. Once you are pulled in to his mind you are basically stuck there as you weave your way through all the activity! Sometimes you just do not want to leave either as the stories he creates capture the essence of all the emotions you feel as you read his books.

There is a moral to the story for this book though as with the character being bullied he is able to overcome those who have done things to him but he does it with a twist. This was a very interesting concept of how this character was able to perform this twisted feat and it takes the story to a whole new level of revenge.

Merry Madness by Angel Gelique

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five " Maddening" Stars

Wow! This was a cool sequel to the first book "Merry Murder" as this one just grabbed me right away!

A small taste of what is inside:

Things don't go as planned as the character Heather from the first book still has not received her phone that she wanted, but in this book things take a turn towards ghosts and hallucinations.

That is about all I can give on a taste considering this was a short story and just a tad more is revealed in my Goodreads review.

Thoughts:

Stepping into the mind of author, Angel Gelique is always a fun ride as the "twists and turns" come at you so fast that you don't have time to think or catch a breath! There is never a dull moment when reading books by this author!

How the Raven Met the Angel: A Ravensbrood Short Story by Jeffrey Caston

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Rocking" Stars

This was a very short story but packed a punch quickly and kept me in a state of suspense with a tiny bit of action mixed in as well.

A small taste of what is inside:

The Raven is back except this time he has to tangle with an angel that is not very amicable and in a very bad mood.

That is about all I can give in a taste without giving away spoilers, but to delve in slightly deeper you will need to read my review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Writing style is excellent and what I have seen so far from author, Jeffrey Caston is that he knows how to pull the reader into his world keeping them there for the duration of the story. Will be looking forward to reading more about the Raven as I am curious where the author will be taking this storyline.

Soul Jacker (Occult Assassin #4) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Fantastic" Stars

Wow! Wow! Wow!  How many "WOWS" can I put in there? Well I would put more but you know I need to write the rest of my blog! This series is just rocking my world! Sad to say there is only one book left to read - I am going to miss Mark Talon! But I own all the books so I can always do re-reads and step back into that world!

A small taste of what is inside:

Mark Talon has to set off for Paris as the city is being rocked by chaos in the streets and this time he will have his work cut out for him as a Jinn has been summoned into the world bringing all of its destruction with it!

That is about all I can give on a backstory as you will need to read the rest of my review over on Goodreads!

Thoughts:

This series just totally stays in fast paced action mode as the character, Mark Talon has to continue to fight these different creatures that are summoned through occult magic! To me what is really cool about this series is that it has the mix of urban fantasy along with the horror aspects which really drives everything up a notch in the terms of excitement!

Looking forward to the next book which is the last book in the series as I want to see how everything wraps up with the character, Mark Talon!

13 Bullets by David Wellington

 πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Five "Fangtastic" Stars

When I read this book back in the Summer of 2019 I was just blown away by not only the writing style of the author, but by how quick I was drawn into the storyline!

A small taste of what is inside:

The city of Pennsylvania has been invaded by vampires - in steps a detective and a vampire hunter - both of them are going to have to learn to work together if they want to rid the city of vampires. One of them is already a believer in vampires and the other one has to learn that they exist.

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will just have to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I had been seeing this book come across my feeds quite a bit about two years ago as friends were reading the book and a friend or two had recommended for me to step into that world which I am happy to say that I did. This is a five book series so I need to step back into the world of author, David Wellington and finish up reading the series of books. I have only read this first book, so four more books to go. Should be a fun "kick-ass" ride which I am looking forward to and hopefully I can head into that direction this year.

What's Left of the Night (Mask of Silence #2) by Alex Gates

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Creepy" Stars

Wow! This book took off like a "bat of out hell" .....well more like a "demon out of hell" would be a better phrase. :)

A very small taste of what is inside:

The demon that was unleashed in the first book "Mask of Silence" is back in this sequel and is more prominent as murders are being committed which throws the city into a fear fest!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you can read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book is the second one I have read by this author and I was very impressed with the writing style more so on this second book as I was blown away by how quick I became involved in the storyline. Before I knew it I had read a few chapters and the intensity of the story just kept me in a state of suspense.
