The Curse Maker (The Hexecutioner #7) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Cursed Magic" Stars

Wow! Another great action packed story of Jaxon and his justice!

A small taste of what is within:

Jaxon is back as he tracks down a film maker (Corbin Jager) that has tapped into the dark arts and has added curses to all his videos. Corbin is about to find out that there are worst creatures roaming around as when Jaxon goes into "demon" mode "hell will come calling"

Thoughts:

This series just keeps getting better and better with each book! The action is great and just flows along! With each book being like a short serial it is easy to become entwined in the story as it is so easy to read the books in one sitting.

Once you step into the world of author, William Massa, there is truly no escape as his writing style just pulls you into his mind and keeps you there till the end of each book. Looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Each story was fast paced and there was quite a bit of action within each story to keep me interested and doing lots of page flipping! All of the stories had some kind of " freaky twist" to them. The writing style is smooth and just flows along from story to story.  I have more books by this author and I am planning on stepping back into his world soon.

The Switch House by Tim Meyer

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Nightmare" Stars

This was an excellent psychological horror tale that kept me guessing throughout the whole book!

A small taste of what lies within:

Angela and Terry Shepherd have a televised show where they switch houses with a widowed woman for about two months, but something goes awry within their house as the woman that lived in their home committed unspeakable acts while living there and now Angela is having nightmares/visions of things that makes her think she is losing her mind.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author as I have been seeing this book come across my Goodreads feeds for about a year, so I decided to step into this author's realm to see what all the fuss was about and wow I was impressed with how fast I was drawn into the storyline!

I literally could not put this book down as the pace was quick along with sharp twists and turns within the story. I have a few more books by this author that are simmering on my kindle and I will definitely be stepping back into this author's mind soon.

Maniacal (Detective Jade Monroe #1) by C.M. Sutter

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Maniac" Stars

This was a great crime detective story!

A small taste of what is within:

Detective Jade Monroe along with her partner, Jack Steele are on the hunt for a killer that leaves an interesting token behind on all his victims. For some reason unknown to Jade the killer is targeting people that Jade comes in contact with and if Jade and Jack do not stop the killer than there might be more people that are important to Jade who is on the killer's list.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This was a new author to me and I have had this book on my kindle for about four years, so just now finding the time to read it. The story was interesting and it moved along at a fast clip, but every once in awhile it would drag some, but then the pace would pick right back up. The killings were bloody and unique which kept my interest.

The only drawback on the story which would have made this book a five star read was that the author went into so much detail of everything the character Jade did which drew out the paragraphs longer than what I wanted and this book which was around 311 pages could have been shorter with less detail, but that is just a small quirk I have in reading books. Other than that I have a few more books by this author which I will step into eventually.

The Shack by Brian G. Berry

 πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Four "Shack Attack" Stars

This was a cool short horror story that took me on a gory spin!

A small taste of what is inside:

A deserted shack is tied to some gruesome stories from the past and things that have happened there. Some friends decide to go check it out on their own as they just don't believe in the stories as they want bragging rights that they spent the night in the shack and what they end up seeing is unimaginable.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The book started a little slow with world building, but this short story took off when the friends decided to visit the shack and stay the night there. Even though this was a short story I became connected to the characters and what they had to endure when they stayed in the shack. There was quite a bit of detailed gore descriptions within the book and the fast pace of the story in the last half of the book kept me turning my kindle pages quickly as I wanted to see what was going to happen next!

Host by D.J. Doyle

πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›

Four  "Bug Infested" Stars

This book was a little "buggy" and kept me drawn into a world of infestation!

A small taste of what lies within:

A woman becomes kidnapped and ends up waking up in a room full of jungle vines, other kidnapped people, and the room is swarming with bugs!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This was a very short story that I read within about a half hour, but it was packed full of terror, extreme situations, and bugs galore! Imagine yourself being transported into a jungle with no way out and the whole area of where you are has every bug imaginable surrounding you. Well that is what this book is chock full of and the author does not hold anything back with this story! If you are in a "bug" kind of mood then check out this book, but be warned as this is an extreme horror story.

The Demon Within (Hexecutioner #6) by William Massa

πŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘Ώ

Five "Diabolical Demonic" Stars

Wow! Another great book in this awesome series!

A small taste of what is within:

Jaxon Weylock is back and on the hunt for a copycat serial killer which might or might not be tied to a case that he had way before he became the Hexecutioner. There is no stopping Jaxon as he makes his way to the place he needs to be seek out the killer, but this time there is something more evil permeating this case and Jaxon will have his hands full as he steps into his role of the Hexecutioner!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This sixth book in the series went into total overdrive as the tension and suspense of the story just brings forth everything into clarity along with a complete history of how Jaxon became the Hexecutioner and what he had to go through with sharing his body with a demon. The action is as pristine as always and the story flows along at a fast pace.

At Night by Sam West

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Revenge" Stars

This was a great short story and I was pleasantly surprised of how quick I became involved in the storyline.

A small taste of what is within:

Freya Flynn is on the war path as she goes out every night finding men that are being bad by attacking women and she decides to intervene dishing out her own justice. Now she has a major problem as someone knows what she has been up to and they are wanting to expose her unless she complies to performing certain tasks. Freya has other plans.....

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my review over on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

The Haunting of Henderson Close by Catherine Cavendish

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Haunting" Stars

Wow! This was a cool ghost story! This author has a way of writing the gothic ghost stories that brings them alive on the pages!

A small taste of what lies within:

Henderson Close is known for a haunting mystery that just seeps into the small town of Edinburgh and Hannah is loving her job as a tour guide for the area. An evil presence becomes unleashed in Henderson Close and Hannah along with her fellow tour buddies needs to not only figure out why the area is haunted but what is the evil that is taking over the area.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Hauntings, mystery, ghosts, and a superb gothic tale is weaved from author, Catherine Cavendish in this book. I have read a few books by this author and I am always drawn into the stories right away. The gothic mystery of her books just wraps itself around you as you step into her stories.

This book was no exception as the minute I started reading it the mystery of the story just took me deep into the heart of the book. I kind of took my time with it as I read it within three days, but I wanted to savor the story and the mystery of the haunting. Another great book added to my collection of gothic ghost stories by this author!

Death Whisperer (Hexecutioner #5) by William Massa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Punishing Pentagram" Stars

A very cool action packed story that sent me cruising through this story at break neck speed!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jaxon is on the hunt once again and this time he has his eyes set on a hitman that is controlling spirits from the grave. Jaxon has to once again show that there is a higher power and his name is the Hexecutioner!

Thoughts:

Loving this series as there is lots of action and suspense squeezed into these short books that just keep rocking along at a high rate of speed! There is no time to breathe as the tension escalates with the arrival of Jaxon Weylock.

Once the Hexecutioner makes himself known to the bad guys they might as well sign their own death warrant because once he sets his sights on them they might as well build their own coffin and lay down in it! This is a ten book series and I have five more to go. Looking forward to them!

Preternatural (Preternatural Trilogy #1) by Peter Topside

πŸ§›‍♂️πŸ§›‍♂️πŸ§›‍♂️πŸ§›‍♂️

Four "Fanged Vampire" Stars

This was a great vampire story that was swimming in blood and gore which kept me entranced and enamored throughout the book!

A small taste of what lies within:

The small town of Meadowsville is steeped in myth and legend of a vampire that roams the streets. When killings start happening and the mayor of the town does nothing to fix the problem, a few citizens decide to band together to eliminate the vampire any way they can.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

I have never read this author before and with this book being his debut book I was pleasantly surprised as I became caught up in the storyline. The story was a little slow in the beginning with world building, but then when the vampire became more involved along with the citizens then the story just took off with a fast romp into bloody horror!

There is quite a bit of action within the story along with tons of suspense and mystery which surrounds the town of Meadowsville. Once the story gets going it zooms off in the last half of the book and I ended up reading the last part of the book within 24 hours as I just couldn't put it down!

Tenants by Christopher Motz

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Apartment Gory Horror" Stars

Wow! This was great twisted horror story that took me on a bloody romp through the halls of an apartment complex!

A small taste of what lies within:

Linda wants to be out on her own away from her parents so she rents an apartment that is not too far away but just far enough away from an ex-boyfriend. What Linda doesn't realize is that though she thinks the apartment is perfect and it is the right fit for her, she doesn't see what the apartment truly is about until it is too late as the apartment complex is far from perfect and it is actually a portal to hell!

That is about all I can give on a taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book turned out to be so much more than I thought it was going to be and at first the book started out with slow world building, but about the halfway point the book literally takes off into a bloody gore unknown!

There were some twists and turns along the way which kept me ensnared in the book that I literally read the last half of the book in just a few hours as I could not put it down! Tension and suspense knew no bounds in this story as there is plenty of it and more within this book!

I have read this author before as it was within an anthology of short stories, but this is my first full novel by this author and I own a few more of his books that I am planning on stepping into in the future.

Ghoststalker (The Haunted Hamlet #2) by Jeff DeGordick

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Evil Entities" Stars

This was an awesome in-depth occult story by author, Jeff DeGordick that I read back in the beginning of last year (2020).

A small taste of what lies within:

Simon Donatti is right in the thick of it this time around as he landed smack dab in the middle of demonic entities that he needs to purge from this world. Of course, it is Simon's fault there are so many demons as things went awry in the last book "Ghosthunter" and now he has to clean up what he set loose from the last book.

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

This book was just steeped in evil and demonic themes that the atmosphere of the book just kept me wrapped within its storyline. I literally read this book within 24 hours as I could not put it down! Fast paced, suspense, intrigue, and lots of demons just pushed me towards becoming a reading machine for 24 hours as I kept wanting to see what was going to happen next! I have read a few books now by this author and he just keeps me in a state of total suspense when I step into his books.
