Five "Spooky Shivers" Stars

Creepy Haunting Mystery!

A small taste of what lies within:

Time era of story: 19th century England

Richard Asquith an antiquarian and Cambridge professor becomes wrapped up with a tomb that is discovered under an ancient church. Edward Atherton along with some workers were restoring parts of the church when the tomb is discovered and they open it to see what is inside but they do not realize that they released a great evil and when Edward ends up missing, his brother Matthew comes calling for the help of Richard hoping that he can help him find out what happened to his brother and to solve the mystery of the tomb beneath the church!

That is about all I can hand out on a small taste, so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author and I have owned this book for a few years now. I loved the gothic setting of the story and the detailed descriptions of the background story for that time period as the author made me feel like I had been whisked away to that time era.

Loved all the characters in this story and the story was written in such a way that it just pulled me straight into the story line. There was a deepening mystery and a haunting tone that stayed with me for most of the book and there were lots of creepy and spooky shivers up my spine while reading this book which made me want to snuggle down more into my cozy chair as I was starting to get creeped out! Looking forward to reading more by this author as it seems he has a few more books out there to read.

Tortures of the Damned by Hunter Shea

Four "Fallout Fears" Stars

Wasteland Woes!

A small taste of what lies within:

Terror hits the East coast when everything comes to a stop with communications as signs of life seems to cease when a terror attack seems to have occurred. Buck and his girlfriend, Alexiana help their neighbors, the Padilla family into his bomb shelter when the attacks happen as no one is sure what is going on.

When time goes by and they venture out into the world things are changed. All kinds of animals and pests have seemed to turn rabid and they are wandering the streets looking for fresh meat. No one is safe in this new world and Buck along with his neighbors will need to fight tooth and nail if they want to survive!

That is about all I can hand out on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This book went in a different direction then what I am used to with reading a book by author, Hunter Shea, but the madness and twisted backdrop of the story with animals going wild threw me right into the mix of things! I would still say this is a horror story even though it is tightly woven into a science fiction apocalyptic world.

The story has tons of tension laced throughout and kept me reading long into a few nights as so much was happening that it was hard to put down.  It really should have been a five star read but something happens later in the book that made me drop it down one star. I cannot tell you what it is because it would be a spoiler but the story is still filled with twisted terror and the descriptions of what takes place kept me edgy.

I can imagine this story being close to our reality if anything like this ever happened in real life. It really shows how much we all depend on communications and being connected to the outside world. Author Hunter Shea brings everything into clarity with this story showing the kindness of neighbors and the angry world right outside the door. Another great book by this author!

Tamara (2005)

My Rating

πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

Streaming service: Tubi

Date of movie: 2005

Synopsis:

Tamara is an outcast in high school and always seems to get made fun of but the tables are turned when things go too far at a supposed party and she dies. The classmates that were involved become the victims of her revenge when her ghost comes back to haunt them.

Thoughts:

I had seen this movie a long time ago but had kind of forgot about it. I remember liking it the first time I watched it. I love the haunting revenge movies. A ghost going on a revenge streak for not being treated right in life.  This movie was spooky and had some jump scares as well. I had forgot some parts of it and didn't remember bits and pieces of the movie so I was happy that I watched it again. Gave this little horror gem four skull stars!

Five "Sinister Suspense" Stars

Haunting Atmosphere!

A small taste of what lies within:

Simon and Grace are planning to get married but when Simon brings Grace to Mordenhyrst Hall to meet his family Grace feels out of sorts with not only the mansion and the village but also she feels that she doesn't belong at Mordenhyrst Hall as she is not welcomed as she would hope. But something is not right as there is something sinister not only lurking in the mansion but in the village as well! Something haunting - something off - something does not feel right, but what is it?

That is about all I can give on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

Once again author, Catherine Cavendish has grabbed me with her atmospheric haunting tale of Mordenhyrst Hall - a mansion that has many secrets and characters that are weaved within magnificently! You become attached to some characters and others you wish would just go away!

The story moves along at a great clip and the author describes details of the mansion, village and characters making you think that you have been pulled straight into the book as if you were experiencing and seeing what is being described in the story!

I have read many books by this author and I am always impressed by how fast she is able to pull me into her stories and keep me there for the duration of the book!

Five "Spooky Suspense " Stars

Haunting Mystery!

A small taste of what lies within:

Nate and Helen leave the city life and move to a small town in Vermont. They decide to build a home instead of buying one so that they can design it the way they want. Helen decides that she wants "pieces of the past" added to the house as they build it from the places around the town, but what they both do not realize is that the past weaves itself into the present as the town holds a deep dark history that will come crashing into the lives of Nate and Helen as Helen brings more of the past into the new house!

That is about all I can give out with a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author, but I have been wanting to read this book for a long time as I have owned this book for quite awhile. I love a good ghost story with all the haunting shivers that normally is associated with spooky stories.  This book rates up there with the best of them as this book was one creepy and haunting tale!

Loved all the characters in this one - main characters and supporting characters. I love how the author goes deep into the background story of the town setting as the descriptions of everything jumps right off the page. The haunting itself that is wrapped within the book was a spooky tale that kept me up some nights reading the story as I didn't want to go to sleep so I just kept turning the pages to see what would happen next! Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

The Missing Stage by Adler Tittle

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Twisted Terror" Stars

Psychological Fear Fest!

A very small taste of what lies within:

A mother has to make a difficult choice between her twin children when a kidnapper wants to take one of them.

That is about all I can give out on a very small taste without giving away spoilers as this book is super short so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

First time reading this author and I was surprised with how fast I was pulled into the story!

This story borders on the edge of a twisted mess of psychological depression and took me into the deep dark recesses of this author's mind! I will be curious to see what author Adler Tittle will be working on in the future as this book barreled along at a high rate of speed and crashed upon the walls of despair!
