Wow! Some action along with some blood splatter!
A small taste of what lies within:
Pete Saubers, a young man in high school, finds a trunk full of money and notebooks not too far from his house.
What Pete does not know is that the trunk belongs to a man that is now in prison and the man (Morris Bellamy) is getting ready to be set free. Once Morris is free he is planning on retrieving the trunk as everything that is inside was stuff that he had stolen and he is looking forward to being back in possession of everything inside the trunk and he will do whatever it takes to get back what he thinks is rightfully his.

Thoughts:
This was a great sequel to Mr. Mercedes and the pace was perfect for me. A little bit of slow burn in the beginning of the story, but once I read past the 60% mark the book just took off into the wild blue yonder! The character Bill Hodges is back along with his team and once they become involved in the story the pace of the book goes into overdrive.
Lots of things happen within the storyline with the young man, Pete and the criminal, Morris Bellamy, but once they both are on a collision course with each other is when the story literally becomes engaged to where I just could not put the book down!
I had a couple nights of insomnia and this book just kept my insomnia fueled. There was even some detailed blood splatter near the end of the book that gave the story a touch of horror, but what do you expect from the Master of Horror himself - classic King in my opinion! What is some splatter here and there! 😁
Looking forward to the last book in the trilogy The End of Watch as I will be curious as to how everything wraps up.
