Bedbugs by Lee Andrew Taylor

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four "Bites and Blood" Stars!

Infested Intrigue!

A small taste of what lies within:

The town of Lemonsville has been invaded by alien infested bedbugs and it has turned the town upside down as the residents are being attacked to the point that they don't know what they are all going to do as these bedbugs are deadly and unseen! Can the residents of the town survive the onslaught?

No spoilers here as you will need to read the book to see what happens!

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author and this story starts out with some action which never lets up throughout the whole book! There are quite a few characters to keep up with but the story never slows down and there is also quite a bit of gore scenes within the story as well which made me grab my gore suit!

The author goes into some descriptive details with the gore scenes which started making me squirmy and also I was itching some throughout this story. Another author added to my discovered list.

What Hides Within by Jason Parent

☀  ☀  ☀  ☀

Four "Spider Hider" Stars

Comedy Horror!

A small taste of what lies within:

Clive Menard is out for a boat ride with his girlfriend when he becomes entangled in a spider cobweb and then accidentally falls overboard into the water. When he gets back in the boat his ears are water logged and he cannot figure out why the water will not flush out from his ear. Little does he know that something is lodged down deep into his ear and things go from bad to worse in the following days to come!

That is about all I can give on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This story was unique with how the story unfolds and there is quite a bit of humor laced within the storyline that made me giggle and laugh out loud a few times. I wasn't expecting really comedy horror until I became more involved in the storyline and I really liked all the characters in this book including Clive as I felt sorry for him with all what he goes through in the book.

The story flows along at a good pace as I wanted to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next to poor Clive. There was some tension moments too along with some suspense. All in all this was a great story and I really enjoyed how it all played out over the course of the book.

Sandgroper by Lee Franklin

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Sand Shifting Screaming Insect" Stars

Wow! This was a cool short story of attacking insects!

A small taste of what lies within:

Two brothers and a friend are checking out rock formations on the coast of Australia when a sandstorm surrounds them making them take shelter within their SUV, but that is not the worst of it as the sandstorm brings with it hungry insects that are way bigger than what they should be and they are very hungry!

That is about all I can give on a small taste as you will need to read my full review on Goodreads.

Thoughts:

Fast paced insect action kept me on the edge of my seat and swarms of insects gave me shudders as I really don't like bugs though I live in a place that is crawling with them but these type of insects that come out of the imagination of horror authors are the worst kind! So if you are in the mood for some "buggy" insect action then go grab this book and settle down for a wild ride!

Violet Eyes by John Everson

 ☀  ☀  ☀  ☀  ☀

Five "Scary Spider" Stars

Would You Want to Enter the Town of Passanatte?

A small taste of what lies within:

Rachel and her son, Eric are trying to start over in the small town of Passanatte which is located not far from the Everglades in Florida. Things get real strange with the bug population in Passanatte as spiders start weaving webs along with flies buzzing all over the town to the point where it seems there are more bugs than humans.

Rachel begins to wonder if the spiders and flies have anything to do with her neighbor, Billy who lives across the street as he just survived spider attacks on an island he had visited recently, but though she wonders about it, Rachel just shrugs it off as she just thinks it is a coincidence.

Rachel ends up meeting a forest ranger (Terry) who eventually becomes her boyfriend and when the town seems to become overrun with the spider invasion is when Terry, Rachel and her son, Eric learn they have to fight for what they want even against nature gone wild as when the spiders are hungry they are going to find whatever food source they can latch onto!

Where did the spiders and flies come from? Why have they taken over the town? Does the town survive the bug invasion?

That is about all I can give out with a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This book was a bug biting and creepy crawling invasion that kept me glued to my kindle as I flew through the story at breakneck speed!  Lots of spider and fly action which keeps this book rocking along near 500mph!

I felt like I had been on some kind of supersonic jet as when the spider action kicked into high gear I literally could not put this book down! Read almost 30% of it in one sitting and then stayed awake late a couple of nights as the story just kept moving along at a high rate of speed!

The characters are very believable and I became attached to them as they endured the bug invasion as when the spiders go into bite mode there is no stopping them!

The author, John Everson, not only brought the characters to life on the pages he also brought to life the bugs as the visual aspects of the story was almost like watching a movie unfold before my eyes!

Scalp by Carver Pike

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Twisted Lice Terror" Stars

Wow! This book was a bloody itchy mess!

A small taste of what lies within:

In the town of Clydeville, West Virginia, lice come calling! Not just any lice, but a different type that are in swarms and when they land on heads of the good people in the town they not only burrow in their hair, they want to become one with the person!

No one is safe in this town including pets and creatures of the forest. The townspeople try to fight and survive this pestilence, but it is hard as the lice are upon them before they can run away!

Where did the lice come from? What do they do to the person? Do the townspeople find a way to kill the lice? No spoilers here as you will just have to read the book!

Thoughts:

This was an awesome bloody ride into terror and I was very impressed with the writing style of author, Carver Pike, as he was able to draw me into the story quickly!

There are lots of characters in this book so I won't be going into detail of each person, but the writing style of author, Carver Pike was superb as he was able to draw me into the story quickly and kept me attached to my kindle as I just could not put this book down!

I didn't sleep much while reading this book as I just wanted to see what would happen next in the story and I also did lots of scratching! lol  As this book will make you "itch and scratch" as you careen through the story! So get your anti-itch cream ready to go or sit in a tub of anti-inch cream while reading this story as you are going to need it!

Major advice is: Do Not Scratch! 😆
