The Candy Witch: Sweet Dreams by Ronald McGillvray

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Sweet Treat Spookiness" Stars

Wicked Witch Chiller!

A small taste of what lies within:

Detective Craig Allen takes on cases that are strange and spooky so when a husband and wife come to him wanting him to find their missing child he wants to help them especially when he finds out that the town where the child went missing has lost a few more children.

Craig decides to team up with his friend Martha to help him find the children and when they find out that there is a local legend of a witch that lives in the woods is when Craig's spook meter goes into the red as he wonders if the stories of the legendary witch has come to life!

That is about all I can hand out on a small taste so if this book sounds intriguing then go read it!

Thoughts:

This book was a grabber right from the beginning and it is more like a twisted Hansel and Gretel tale but it has more blood and gore wrapped within its pages. It is really in one way connected to the author's book, Cutter's Deep as there are characters from that book in this book.

The pacing of the story was great as it moved along and the story was super creepy at times where I had to stay up late reading the story as I wasn't sure what twisted path the author was going to take me on next!

Another great book by this author and looking forward to whatever else he has coming out in the future!

The Suffering by M.J. Mars

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Ouija Board Woes" Stars

Spine Shivers!

A small taste of what lies within:

Kyle Birbeck along with a few of his college friends decide that they want to reach out to the other side through a Ouija board to contact ghosts that were supposedly laid to rest inside Brackney House, a house that is connected to his ancestors.

Kyle learns that there are five ghosts and all of them were evil to the core, but what Kyle doesn't realize is that once contact is made the ghosts come alive in a sense and end up binding themselves to each of the friends!

That is about all I can hand out on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author and I was impressed with how creepy this book started out and kept me glued to the pages of my kindle.  The story was just seeped with dread and fear as the characters in the story had to endure different situations with some evil ghosts.

The ghost concept was cool and different with how the author wrote the story which grabbed me right away and took me down the spooky shivers road with lots of insomnia fueled nights. The pace was a little slow in the beginning with backstory world building but all of it was saturated in an atmospheric haunting world.

It seems the author has some stories in anthologies and a couple more books that I need to check out in the future.

The Covenant: A Tale of the Antichrist by Tom Lewis

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Nightmare Terror" Stars

Spooky Tension!

A small taste of what lies within:

Kenzie Walsh wants to dig deep into the history of Capetown Maine as something happened in the past with her brother and she wants to find out what is haunting her town. Little does she know that there is an ancient evil that is stirring and when an artifact is unearthed in a cave is when things start to move rapidly that could bring the fires from hell knocking on her door!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This story starts off with some suspense and creepy terror! As I made my way through the story I found myself becoming more creeped out by what was taking place within the book. Lots of spooky moments as I careened along at a fast rate of speed through the story.

Once again this author has taken me on a spooky ride into the terror zone and kept me pinned to my seat with nightmare fuel!

When the Night Falls by Glenn Rolfe

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Lethal Vampire" Stars

Small town vampire horror!

A small taste of what lies within:

Orchard Beach, Maine is finally getting back to some kind of normal after the murders that happened there ten years before. Though it has been ten years Rocky Zukas still has that memory of what happened to him and the summer love he had as well with the girl, November.

Now the town is being invaded by news people who want to do a documentary about the murders and all the old evils are slamming back into the town of what took place there. That is not the only thing invading his beloved town as vampires are back as well and they are not done with Rocky at all nor are they done with the town!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was a great sequel to the book "Until Summer Comes Around" as it took me back into the midst of the town, the characters and the drive down memory lane with 80's and 90's cultural mentions. This story also pulls on the heart strings as well besides having quite a bit of blood gushing through the story.

The pacing was perfect as it slowly pulls you back into the world of these characters and the town. There was tension, mystery, suspense, and lots of blood that kept me glued to my seat and to my kindle!

Mortuary (2005)

πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

Four "Creeped Out" Stars

Streaming service: Tubi

Movie Year: 2005

Main Cast: Denise Crosby, Dan Byrd, Stephanie Patton, Alexandra Adi, Rocky Marquette

Storyline:

A family moves to a small town in California where they plan on starting a new life while running a long-abandoned funeral home.

Thoughts:

This was a good spooky movie! There were a few jump scares but if anything the whole movie was kind of intense as the cast of characters were trying to evade dead bodies that were coming to life and I was wondering what was going to happen next!

Though I felt that sometimes the characters would do something that made it seem they were not very bright either - their choices were not top notch but then again this is a horror movie so those "do not run that way" trope came into play! :)

Hundreds of skulls dot his land, but what he does with them takes him and his family on a twisted ride into the bone zone!

That is about all I can hand out on a small taste without giving away spoilers, so if you are intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

I have read a few books by this author and he always seems to come up with some twisted and crazy stories that keeps me running back for more! This short story is no different and when I started reading the book, I had a hard time putting it down!

Twists, turns, and downright craziness romps through this book! Another great book by this author!

Thoughts:

This short story took me on a quick wild ride into crazy and extreme terror! Once again this author throws everything out there and it is mixed with blood, gore and goo that was dripping off my gore suit!

This supermarket story is great as it really shows how things can escalate between shoppers when things go sour and author, Angel Gelique takes that craziness and throws the reader right into the middle of a raging mob! Drwg Stones by Raven Dane

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Spooky Stones" Stars

A small taste of what lies within:

Time setting: 1949

On the outskirts of the village of Eckscale there lies an area out in a field that the towns people leave alone as there are stones that stand in the earth that look almost like ancient guardians for the town. The townspeople know that to keep things going smoothly in the town that the stones need to be taken care of but sometimes things do not go as planned and then when plans go awry everyone better watch out!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you are intrigued by this story then go grab the book and check it out for yourself!

Thoughts:

This was my first time reading this author and when I read the synopsis of this story I knew it was right up my alley as I love to read dark fantasy stories as well.

The story sank deep into the history of the town and the creepiness of the story just seeped into my psyche! I would find myself getting caught up in the story and reading the book late into the night as I just could not put the book down!

There were quite a few characters since the story revolved around the town but I was able to keep up with them all as the author wrote it in such a way that I could keep track of who was who and what was going on. Looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
