Five "Killer Thriller Chiller" Stars

What Would Happen If You Broke Down in the Woods?

A small taste of what lies within:

Arden with his wife Laurie and their two children, Nick and Misty end up getting lost in the backwoods of Georgia even though Arden was relying on his GPS which didn't help. But when they end up running out of gas in the driveway of a house with a warning sign things do not bode well especially when a man comes walking out of the house with a shotgun!

When Misty needs to use the bathroom is when things become escalated as the man tells them that she can use the bathroom in the house - Arden decides to take Misty and go inside. However as time goes by with no return from Misty or Arden, then Laurie starts to panic as to why is it taking so long?!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

Wow!! This book was freaking brutal with tons of tension, tons of extreme situations, and tons of psychological terror that just took me on a horror ride into the unknown! I kind of flew through this book as there was just so much happening that it was hard to put down!

I really liked all the characters in this book - even the villains I considered true villains as they were evil enough to make me root more for the family and less for the villains.

This book also made me think as I have driven desolate roads before with hardly any traffic and being out in the middle of nowhere. What would happen if I broke down - I would be at the mercy of whoever came along. The author, Jeff Strand takes those fears of the unknown traveler and takes it to the next level as no one knows what kind of people live out in the woods whether they will be helpful or not.

So if you want a book that will keep you up all hours of the night and you don't mind some extreme splatter situations then go read this book!

Four "Stalker Slasher" Stars

Stalking Evil!

A small taste of what lies within:

Jack and his girlfriend Jill along with his two teenagers, Allen and Kim decide to take a vacation out to the country - a place that Jack has been to before with his kids but Jack wants to spend time with Jill and show her a fun time.

Though there will be anything but fun as one of the town citizens is gruesomely murdered and the Sheriff is having a hard time solving the case - it is possible that the Shaw family  who is considered to be cursed could be behind the killings.

There will be hell to pay though when Jack's family crosses paths with the Shaw family as no one is safe from the evil that has possessed one of the family members and Jack and his family will have to do everything they can to survive!

That is about all I can give on a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know what happens then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was my second time reading this story and I wanted to see if my first impression still rang true the second time around which it did. So this blog review will not be changing much at all as my feelings for it the first time are still there the second time.

The world building with this book was a little slow and really didn't kick in with lots of action till after the 50% mark of the book then it went into some crazy twists and turns which kept me glued to my kindle.  I would consider this to be a twisted slasher/possession story that goes into gory graphic details with the murders that happen within this book and the pace of the story becomes faster after the half way point.

The only reason this book is not getting five stars is because there seemed to be too much romance/sex between the characters Jack and Jill and couple of other characters in the story - there was quite a bit of it throughout the book which to me it is okay to have some but not to have the first half of the book to be mostly sex with a trickle of slasher action.  The last half of the book was more slasher action which was what I waiting for to kick in. All in all though the writing is smooth and as always I really do love the writing style of this author.

The Pope Lick Massacre by Eric Butler

Five "Splatter" Stars

Wow! This was a great gore infested romp through the backwoods of Kentucky!

A small taste of what is inside:

A Boy Scout troop goes camping out in the back country of Kentucky and ends up losing contact with family and friends. When everyone begins to worry about what happened to the boy scouts they form a search party to bring them home. What they do not expect is something roams the woods which is considered to be a myth/legend (the Goat Man) and when they realize that what is considered to be a "myth" is really a "fact" then it might be too late for all of them!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if that has you intrigued then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This was a cool blood splatter ride that kept me in a state of suspense throughout the story!

The mystery surrounding the myth of the Goat Man is very intriguing and as I became involved in the storyline, the tension along with the fast paced page turning kept me entranced as I made my way through the book!

When I read this book back in 2021 I was impressed of how quick I became involved in the storyline as when the book took off, I was dragged along by my heels toward the unknown and there was no time to catch my breath as I flew through the storyline to see what was going to happen next! There was so much splatter in this book that it was a good thing I had my gore suit handy as it is definitely needed for reading this book!

Highly Recommend!
