Five "Devilish Danger" Stars
What Lies Within the Walls of the Orphanage?
A small taste of what lies within:
Peter Barlow has been at St. Vincent's Orphanage for a long time along with some other boys. Priest Poole and a handful of priests run the orphanage with an iron fist as they try to keep the boys in line but things go awry one night when the Sheriff from the local town comes calling as he has with him a man that is very sick and in need of the services by the priests.
Little do they all know that they have just opened the door to evil as the man that is sick is not just ill but has something wrong with him and when he enters the orphanage all hell will literally break loose within the walls of the orphanage!
That is about all I can hand out with a small taste without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book!
Thoughts:
This was my first time reading this author and it won't be my last. The story moves along at a good pace but really kicks in after the 50% mark. I really liked all the characters in this one though a couple of the priests were mean to the boys and things happen within the story that make you not care what happens to the priests but the story really goes into overdrive not too long after the sick man character comes to the door - once that happens the book slowly builds up speed.
The author does go into some details with a couple of the boys making you care for more for them and the supporting characters in the book. I literally read the last 30% of the book within a couple of hours as the story escalated around the 70% mark and I had a hard time putting it down!
Looking forward to reading more books by this author to see what else he has out there that will grab my attention!
