The Descent (2005) and The Descent Part 2 (2009)

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Cave Creature Action" Stars

Streaming service: Tubi

Date of movie: 2005

Cast (Main): Natalie Mendoza (Juno), Shauna McDonald (Sarah), MyAnna Buring (Sam), Alex Reid (Beth), Saskia Mulder (Rebecca), and Nora-Jane Noone (Holly)

Synopsis of story:

Six friends go on a cave exploration far underground which leads to becoming trapped in an area that is inhabited by strange creatures.

Thoughts:

I think I saw this movie not long after it came out but don't remember much of it so it was almost like watching it for the first time. This movie has tons of tension, anxiety, creature action when the friends finally get into that part of the cave with the creatures and lots of claustrophobia feelings while watching it too.

The creatures reminded me of a twisted version of Gollum in LOTR as that is what they almost looked like to me body wise.

Normally I will munch on popcorn or cookies or some kind of snacks but I felt myself not wanting to eat anything as I was too tensed up but I was drinking water a lot as it seemed that they were making me thirsty with their cave traveling! lol

All in all this movie kept me suspended in the cave with the friends and made me go right away to binge watch the second movie as if I am going to stay in "cave exploring mode" then I might as well do a binge watch. lol

Four "Cave Creature More Action" Stars

Streaming service: Tubi

Date of movie: 2009

Cast (Main): Shauna McDonald (Sarah), Natalie Mendoza (Juno), Douglas Hodge (Dan), Krysten Cummings (Rios), Gavan O'Herlihy (Vaines) and Josh Dallas (Greg).

Synopsis of story:

No one believes Sarah when she tells her story about the cave creatures and how she lost her friends down in the caves so rescuers decide to go into the caves anyway to search and rescue survivors if there are any.

Thoughts:

This movie I had not seen but the tension and suspense were still high for me - more for the claustrophobia feelings too but I felt that the characters in this one just were doing some stupid stuff. The action was still good but for some reason I felt that the movie wasn't moving along fast enough like the first movie.

The creature action seemed to move fast but the character movement through the caves seemed slower.

Still it wasn't a bad follow up sequel to the first movie but for me it wasn't five stars either like the first movie.

The Twelve: A Ghost Story by D.E. McCluskey

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Spooky Shivers" Stars

Creepy Haunting!

A small taste of what lies within:

John Rydell has been through the wringer with losing his wife and going through a depression stage of grief, but now something is lurking in his house to the point where he thinks he might be going crazy as something is haunting his footsteps and he is not sure what has invaded his home or better yet what does it want!

That is about all I can give on a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This is my first time reading a book by this author and it won't be my last! I loved how the story just started out as it pulled me into the spooky world of this author! I found myself reading twelve chapters in one sitting as I could not put the book down! I truly lost myself within the story as my room disappeared around me and all I could focus on was the story itself.

I loved the character John and I felt for him as things started happening to him. The mystery of the story just kept me suspended in intrigue as I made my way through the story as I was trying to put the puzzle pieces together of what was taking place with the haunting.

There are some timeline flips though as the story will go back to college days of John and his friends then come forward to the present day. The timeline jumps were smooth and easy to follow so I didn't mind them at all as to know what is happening in the present day as the past has to be slowly revealed. I am not much into timeline jumping but if the story moves along smoothly and the author writes it as such then I am fine with it.

The spookiness of the story just kept me wrapped within the pages of this book as I could feel the dread slowly starting to seep under my skin. This haunting tale was awesome and I am looking forward to reading more by this author which I have a couple or so more books by him on my kindle.

The Bookshop From Hell by David Haynes

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Five "Terror Ride Into Hell" Stars

Spooky Ride!

A small taste of what lies within:

What would you do if a book store opened up in your town? You would be running right over there to see what kind of books were available to you. This book store is different though as the minute the townspeople step into the store the owner doesn't let them wander around the shop, but he does offer them a free book telling them that they will "love, love, love it".

Dan Law, one of the teachers at the high school loves to read horror books so when he sees the new store he decides to go over there to see if the owner has horror books available. But what Dan doesn't know is once he steps inside the book store, his life will never be the same again as the free books that the owner hands out to all the townspeople are very unique. Each book does something different to each person and when it takes a hold of them the book will not let them go!

What are the free books? What does each book contain within its pages? How do the books change the townspeople? What happens to Dan Law and how does the book affect him? No spoilers here as you will just have to read the book!

Thoughts:

This book was a grabber right from the beginning and it picked up speed the more I became involved in the story. Lots of twists and turns with fast paced suspense throughout the book gives me a main reason to put this book on my favorites shelf!

As always I am impressed with author David Haynes and the stories that he can weave around the reader!

This book was an intriguing read as it will take the reader on a twisted book adventure into the depths of hell!

The Saga of Dead Eye, Book Two: Werewolves, Swamp Critters, & Hellacious Haints by Ronald Kelly

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Five "Bloody Dust Trails" Stars

Supernatural Action!

A small taste of what lies within:

Dead Eye along with his side kick Job are back in this second book raring to go! They are still in pursuit of the witch, Evangeline and her minions as they escaped with Dead Eye's son Daniel. Dead Eye and Job run into obstacles as they try to track down the evil crew and they come across some supernatural calamities including werewolves that appear to slow them down some as they try to catch up to the witch.

The closer they think they are something slams in their way causing them to lose ground, but they are relentless in their pursuit as come hell or high water they are going to keep on the heels of the witch Evangeline and one way or another they are going to make them pay!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

Once again I became caught up in this continuing story of Dead Eye and Job. It has been a couple of years since I read the first book but once I started reading this story everything came back in one fell swoop and I fell right back into the story line of the book.

The pace of the story moves fast as the characters of Dead Eye and Job make their way through the story with things happening throughout the story. Also I had to grab my gore suit as there were some descriptive blood happenings within this book!

The author, Ronald Kelly, just draws you into his world and the world of the wild west! The descriptive details of the dusty trails and the atmosphere of the old west just transports you there.  Looking forward to reading the third book in this saga as I want to see where the road leads with Dead Eye and what happens next!

Haunted by Tamara Thorne

πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

Five "Spooky Shivers" Stars

Atmospheric Haunting!

A small taste of what lies within:

David Masters, an author along with his daughter, Amber move into Baudey House that sits on the California coastline. The house is well known around the town of Red Cay for having a sordid history and for being haunted. Though David and Amber do not truly believe in ghosts so they just shrug off the town talk, but when the ghosts make their presence known the Masters family will be getting a rude awakening!

That is about all I can hand out with a small taste so if you want to know more then go read this book!

Thoughts:

This story just reached in and grabbed me! I love haunted house stories and the author, Tamara Thorne weaved her haunting magic within these pages as everything that is connected to ghosts and spooky atmosphere lies within this book!

I loved the characters in this book as there are quite a few but each one shines within the pages of this book. The story moves at a good pace bringing all the haunting tones to a creepy crescendo and it took me on a haunted ride into this author's mind!

Another great book by Tamara Thorne and looking forward to reading more of her stories.
